We have some news. Big news. Huge news, even.

Tricia Sciortino, our very own CEO, has published Rise Up & Lead Well: How Leveraging An Assistant Will Change Your Life & Maximize Your Time.

And it dropped today.

“If you had told me 10 years ago when I started as the very first Executive Assistant at BELAY that I would one day be the CEO of that same company, I wouldn’t have believed you,” said Tricia. “But now, as I look back, I can see how each step in my career has led me to this exact moment and provided me the exclusive vantage point for writing this book.”

According to a Harvard Business Review study, executives worked an average of nearly 10 hours per weekday – or an average of nearly 63 hours per week, which includes putting in an additional four hours per weekend day and nearly two and half hours per vacation day.

However, leaders delegating to an assistant saved an average of 8-15 hours each week – the equivalent of nearly one to two full workdays.

And still, in her decade with BELAY, Tricia encountered countless leaders with feelings of uncertainty when it came to hiring – and subsequently working with – an assistant.

“They simply don’t know where to begin,” she said. “But an assistant is your secret weapon to leveling up your leadership. It puts someone in your corner to manage the details so you can stay focused on that which only you can do.”

And while most leaders recognize the need, it often doesn’t eliminate the uncertainty.

“This used to be a paralyzing, all-encompassing feeling that I simply couldn’t escape until I started working with Tricia and the BELAY team,” said Ted Kingsbery, President of The Shark Group. “By opening up my mindset on how I should truly use my time to maximize revenue and happiness, I literally felt like I was looking at the world differently. For anyone who is looking to take their business to the next level, spend more time with their family, or achieve any other goal that they have, this book is a must-read.”

That sentiment is exactly what Tricia had hoped to achieve.

“It’s not another book of inspirational and unproven ideas,” Tricia said. “Every single page brings real-world examples and actionable advice I’ve learned firsthand over the last decade.

“For so many leaders, there’s a moment in your personal and professional life where you realize that you’re in your own way. You know you need help – and that’s exactly where an assistant comes in.”

Effectively using an assistant is critical to a leader’s success but this can prove intimidating, especially for those who don’t know how to hire, onboard and train an assistant. But the windfall of benefits, Tricia explained, is immeasurable.

“I could not lead BELAY without her. And that isn’t just flattering hyperbole or fawning humility; it’s God’s honest truth,” she said. “I’ve walked the walk as an assistant myself – and that perspective helped me learn how to have a great assistant and leverage her.”

Carey Nieuwhof, leadership author, speaker and podcast host, agreed.

“[This is] a short, powerful manual that will walk you through exactly what you need to look for in an assistant, how to make the relationship thrive, and how to organize your workflow so that everyone soars.”

“My assistant and I have had to actively master working well together,” Tricia said. “It’s like any other relationship: The more you put in, the more you’ll get out of it. So in my new book, I’m sharing everything I’ve learned – sitting on both sides of the desk – about how to work successfully with your assistant so other leaders can do the same.”
